So you want to know what the Democrats are really up to, don’t you? After all, it just doesn’t make any sense to blatantly defy the will of the electorate. Yet we see this administration, and the Democratic party itself, consistently insist on pushing through Health Care Reform in spite of overwhelming opposition and ZERO Republican support. Why? We see a determination to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility even though the public did not want it closed BEFORE the recent string of terrorist activity within our borders. Why? Worse, this administration is dead set on trying terrorists, including the masterminds behind the 9/11 attacks, in civilian courts even as they bestow upon them the rights of AMERICAN citizens. Again, why? Is there some suicidal tendency within the Democratic party? Or do they know something we don’t know…yet? Remember, I am one of those who have stated that in the event that Health Care Reform legislation succeeds there would be no 2010 elections. Guess what folks, the Democrats do have a plan. A damnable, treasonous and evil one at that.

The phrase “once saved, always saved” is at the heart of one of Christianity’s oldest and deepest running controversies. It is the belief that a person’s salvation is a permanent condition. Many Christians, including Catholics, commonly deny this doctrine. Several Protestants, including Southern Baptists, embrace this belief. Still others fall in between holding to the argument that if one’s salvation experience was indeed genuine, then that genuineness will be manifested in a secure salvation. In other words, if you backslide you were never truly repentant in the first place. Though I myself am a Southern Baptist, I have challenged this doctrine on the new Babylon Mystery Orchestra CD in a very big way. I have suggested that the infamous “mark of the beast” can, and will, be forced on people against their will. That especially includes Christians. I don’t make this assertion carelessly.

CRUSADER
Christians love to apologize for the Crusades. In the modern climate of the ever more liberal Christian denominations, this moment in its history is often perceived as an ill conceived war of aggression by a western civilization dominated by an opportunistic Catholic Church. Modern scholars, using modern vernacular, will often attribute this to a form of “Christian Fundamentalism.” One could even be led to believe that the Muslims were just peacefully minding their own business, in lands that were legitimately theirs, until the European Crusaders came crashing into their benevolent kingdom forcing Christianity on them by the sword. Worse, the Crusaders are often seen as imperialists simply seeking to create new colonies for the profits of the “not so pious or faithful” adventurers seeking personal fame and fortune. Unfortunately this is a modern fabrication.
MEET THE NEW BOSS, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS
There I was, certain I would finally get to writing an essay about Global Warming, or at least another one of the many I want to write about Islam. Things lately have a way of not working out as I expect they should. A couple of rock musicians caught “foot in mouth” disease and I feel compelled to comment about it. I was more than capable of ignoring Sheryl Crow’s attack on white house adviser Karl Rove and her suggestion (joke we hope) about toilet paper conservation. Who among us possesses high expectations of Sheryl’s intellect or influence? But this statement I could not overlook:

SAVE THE METAL ZONE
About a month ago I was just browsing through the names of users on myspace, looking for people that I might have known (hey, I live in Greenville Alabama, what else have I got to do?), when I came across someone in Tuscaloosa called Dave “The Metal Guy.” He had a picture of himself with Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, so out of curiosity I wanted to see who it was that would refer to himself as “The Metal Guy.” When I clicked over there I found that he does a metal show on the radio station at the University Of Alabama, WVUA-FM. He referred to it as the “longest running specialty show of heavy metal in Alabama.” Suddenly I was very familiar with what he was talking about. I knew because as it turns out I knew that very show. I was the guy who started it back in 1982/83. Once upon a time I went by the radio name of Ace. Sort of a tribute to Ace Frehley.
HEAVY METAL: UNDERGROUND OR FRATERNITY
A lot has been written, primarily over the internet but also through many traditional and independent publications, regarding heavy metal as an “underground” music genre.. To be sure it no longer holds a dominant status in the sales figures of major record labels, nor does it dominate the touring market as it once did in it’s 80’s heyday. The question I present is: How did it come to this? At one time metal music was a prominent, even dominant, commercial force.. It is the opinion of this writer that it boils down to two factors: definition and fraternity.
